Movie Review: Sunshine 2007

Welll, no real review. I just watched it again, and I have to recommend it for sci-fi buffs. A mission to the sun to rekindle it goes pear shaped. Good acting, beautiful to watch the special effects, mostly slowish paced and moody, tense with some good action bits. It reminds me of something I can't quite put my finger on... so I may edit this once I've slept on it.

Rotten tomatoes scores it 74% http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/sunshine/

I always want to like these movies, but it's the hokey "science" to the "Science fiction" that bothers me.

I don't mean the crazy futuristic stuff, just the physics neglecting stuff.

Anyways, haven't seen it, but on your recommendation I'll take a swing at it next time it comes around.

:stamp_accepted: Good movie, I recommend it as well. Decent sci-fi flicks are few and far between.

It's not perfect hard-sci-fi, but it's OK. You'll immediately pick a couple of things ... there's blatant artificial gravity going on in otherwise early 21st century technology and the 'bomb' premise is psuedo-science but overall it's a pretty solid movie.

I also really loved this movie. As with any sci-fi, it requires a degree of suspension of disbelief, but it's "real science sins" are not as blatant as most.

Loved this movie. Glad it was discussed here. I actually liked the fact that they glossed over some of the science stuff. Not trying to explain it and having it "just be" can give a whole lot of class to a sci fi flick, I think.

Loved the music. Loved the pacing. Loved the *feel* of this movie. Some "really?" moments but overall pretty solid.
