It never, ever was a toy, Top.     I've been learning mine since 2007 (without instruction, sadly, which is why I decided to learn (and buy) a guitar...for the nearly unlimited access to instructional material / instructors).      I've posted quite a few videos from what many, including me, consider to be the Best Uke Player in the World, Jake Shimabukuro.    Nobody gets stupid with it like Jake...this cat is The Man...dig it:

Jake Shimabukuro - Thriller (MJ Tribute) (Schenectady, NY)

Jake Shimabukuro "Let's Dance"

Jake Shimabukuro "Orange World"

and for you Beatles fans out there:

Jake brought the House down... One of my fav groups made an appearance C & K ... old school, but mellows the soul brother.

I realize that this guy does not have the raw talent for playing the uke as the above, but he had the whole package. Of course, you know him, we all do, even us europeans.

I jsut realized i do not know how to embed a clip directly, so here is the link to the youtube video instead.
OFFICIAL Somewhere over the Rainbow - Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo?ole

and then realized.... that it embeds automagically when you enter the link in an url and dont try to muck about wiht the embed code!*dies*
